1. Place the hanger brackets over the lip of the top
bin hatch
(the brackets should be approximately
at a 90 degree angle to the man hatch opening,
See Fig. 42).
3. Lower the cables and wrap twice around the hanger
bracket, and twice around the beam just behind
the drive cluster, use cable clamps or an approved
swedge-hook end to secure the cables.
1. The Hanger Channel, Bracket and Chains may
already have been preassembled,
if not,
install the
Channel Bracket onto the Hanger Channel as shown
in Figure 40.
NOTE:
T
he center 1/2 x 4 1/2” bolt will also pass
through the hole in the support shaft, the two 3/8 x 4
1/2”
bolts will be positioned to each side of the shaft.
2. Remove the 1/2 x 3 1/2” bolt and locknut from the
bottom hole on the channel bracket shaft. Insert the
shaft between the mounting tabs on top of the pivot
arm and secure using the bolt previously removed
NOTE:
Do not over tighten The shaft should be able
to pivot freely between the mounting tabs.
3. The hanger chains may already be assembled to the
hanger channel, if the chains need to be installed,
insert the last link of each chain into the MIDDLE slot
located on each end of the hanger channel.
Insert one 3/8 x 4 1/2” long bolt through the channel
making sure the bolt passes through the link. Secure
the bolt using one lockwasher and non-lock nut. See
Figure 41.
Figure 40 - Hanger Channel with Pivot Arm Assembly
To allow easier access to the hanger chains from
the hatch opening, use visegrips or a similar clamp-
ing device, and clamp both chains up on the cable
as shown in Fig. 43.
2. Erect a field-built winch stand, with a 750 lb. (mini-
mum test)
brake winch and cable assembly, above
the top hatch opening.
Do the same over the roof man hatch opening, if
there is no man hatch, a hole will need to be cut
through the roof for cable access.
Position the brackets directly across from each
other and mark the mounting holes for drilling.
Drill an 11/32”
(9 mm)
diameter hole at each of the
mounting hole locations.
Secure the brackets using four (4) 5/16-18 x 3/4”
bolts, lock washers and nuts (it may be necessary
to bend the lip of the hanger bracket to allow it to
stay positioned while marking the mounting holes).
If the bracket lip interferes with the closing of the
hatch, the brackets can be turned around (when
not using the lip as part of support, the bolts
must
be
used for mounting).
