NOTE
A CD-ROM reader installed in the VersaBay II must be speci-
fied as a slave device in the Setup utility. Also check that the switch
on the back of the CD-ROM Reader is set to the position next to S
for slave.
If you install an optional 19mm hard disk drive in the NEC Versa
4000 HDD Cradle Pak, it becomes the master drive from which the
system boots. (Note that the 12.5mm hard disk or the CD-ROM can
be set either to master or slave.) For ordering information see the

Make sure the NEC Versa 4200 is powered off, all external options are
disconnected, and the LCD panel is closed.
2.
Turn the system upside down with the front facing you.
3.
Locate the VersaBay II release latches on the bottom of the unit.

Slide the front latch towards the PC Card slots and hold it.
5.
Push the middle latch towards you until the drive pops part way out of
the unit.
