REMOVING THE SYSTEM UNIT COVER
Before installing optional hardware inside the computer, you must first remove the system
unit cover. (The system unit cover must also be removed to access internal configuration
switches.)
Removing the Cover
WARNING:
Before removing the system unit
cover, turn off the power and unplug the system
power cable. Power is removed only when the
power cable is unplugged.

Turn off and unplug the system unit.
2.
Disconnect the keyboard, mouse, monitor, and any other device (such as a
printer) connected to the rear of the system.
Label all cables to make reinstallation easier.
CAUTION:
Electrostatic discharge can damage
computer components. Discharge static
electricity by touching a metal object before you
remove the system unit cover.

Loosen the three thumb screws on the rear of the system unit (see Figure Section
3-1). If you have installed a padlock on the back of the system, unlock the
padlock and remove it.
