Using the BRM2 Brain Monitor

Checking procedure
Before beginning an assessment:
1. Check all modules and connecting cables of the BRM2 Brain Monitor for signs of breakage or
damage. If any module or cable appears worn or damaged, have the unit checked by your
healthcare institution's service personnel before turning the device on.
2. Check that the RS232 Serial Cable and UTP Serial Cable are correctly connected (see Figure 7 on
page 20).
For BRM2 Brain Monitors before serial number BRM20061200 only, a DC Power Cable must also be
fitted.
Operating the BRM2 Brain Monitor
Comprehensive instructions for operating the BRM2 Brain Monitor are provided in the "BRM2
Onscreen Help System", (see page 23).
Instructions for applying the BrainZ Neonatal Sensor Set are also contained in the training CD
"Introducing the BRM2 Brain Monitor"
and in an instruction sheet packed with each box of
Sensor Sets.
Taking screen snapshots
During recording, or when reviewing an assessment, it is possible to take screen snapshots of an
interesting display and save it as a graphics file. You can then email the file to colleagues, or post it on a
web-based forum for discussion or assistance. The snapshots are produced as
portable network
graphics (.png) files, a compact windows-compatible graphics format.
Comprehensive instructions for taking screen snapshots are provided in the "BRM2 Onscreen Help
System", (see page 23).
