Chapter 5 Maintenance Guide
Examine the batteries voltage termly to make sure that the voltage of the battery is normal.
Examine the system running status termly to find the failure in time.
5.3 Battery Maintenance
5.3.1
Precaution for Battery Charging
When cleaning battery case, use a damp (water) cloth. Do NOT use oil substance or organic,
flammable solvents such as gasoline or thinner. Do not touch the battery terminals with the
cleaning cloth.
Battery should be kept away from fire as well as all electrical equipment which may easily cause
spark to avoid explosion.
To prevent batteries from starting a fire, do not short-circuit battery terminals.
Battery electrolytes irritate skin. To avoid electrolyte leakage, do not open battery covers.
5.3.2
Battery Maintenance
To ensure a long battery lifespan, perform the following maintenance tasks periodically.
Normally it needs to charge and discharge the battery once every 4~6 months, and charging time
should not be less than 24h every time.
In high temperature area, the battery should be charged and discharged once every two months,
and charging time should be not less than 24h every time.
If battery hasn’t been used for a long time, it should be charged and discharged every three
months, and charging time should not be less than 24h.
Do not over-discharge batteries. After batteries stop discharging, fully charge them within 24
hours.
After using for six months, check that whether battery cables are properly connected.
If the UPS is not used, please disconnect the battery switch on the UPS to avoid long-time
discharge after mains failure.
5.3.3
Battery Replacement
