DHCP Setup
DHCP function allows the NVR to obtain a dynamic IP address from DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Pro-
tocol) server when the NVR boots up. Using DHCP, the settings are dynamic and will change every time the
NVR powers on or off, depending on the network setup.
1. Check the “Enable DHCP” box and click
, a dynamic IP address will be assigned to the NVR. In
this setting, Ethernet configurations for IPv4 sections including IP address, subnet Mask, Default Gate-
way, and DNS will be applied automatically and cannot be modified by users.
2. If the NVR is expecting to be used under a fixed IP address, un-check the “Enable DHCP” box to manually
configure the IP Address, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway, and DNS. Contact network system admin-
istrators or IT personnel for more details.
IPv4
1. In the WAN configuration menu, if users decide to set the NVR under a fixed IP address, users must com-
plete all the related settings.
2. In the LAN configuration menu, users can setup LAN network IP address, subnet mask, etc. individually.

Address: Users can configure the IP (Internet Protocol) address of the NVR. IP address is the identifier
for the NVR on a TCP/IP LAN.

Subnet Mask: A 32-bit netmask, is used to divide an IP address into subnets and specify the networks’
available hosts. The value is defined by network administrator, and the form looks similar to
255.255.255.255.

Default Gateway: Gateway is a node on a network that serves as an entrance to another network . NVR
can reach other devices on different network (AP/Hub/Switch).

Primary DNS & Secondary DNS: Users can specify the IP address of the Domain Name Space associated
with the NVR. If the server is unavailable when using DHCP, the NVR will continue searching for the net-
work server until it times out or finds a new available one.
