CBS Test Burst Size
When a flow is defined the CBS, Committed Burst Size is one of the parameters
defined. The CBS defines the size of a burst that can be handled before packets
are discarded.
This parameter defines the burst size as a percentage of the CBS. For eample
with 64 byte packets and a CBS of 10kbytes a 95% setting will set the burst size
to 9.5kbytes or 148 64 byte packets.
4.7.2.4.4.4.3
CBS Test Time
Burst capabilities need to be verified over a reasonable length of time. For a
typical test, with a 24 hour CIR test, this would be set to 1 hour.
4.7.2.4.5 CIR/EIR Test
Where flows have been defined with both CIR and EIR values this test generates
two streams of traffic, one colour marked green as CIR conformant and a second
stream marked yellow as EIR conformant. During this test traffic is generated at
a constant rate.
In a colour aware network, the service guarantees to pass traffic at rates of upto
the CIR. This conformant traffic is marked Green. Where an EIR is defined extra
capacity may be made available to the flow but it is not guaranteed.
Where the underlying network is colour aware, the test verifies that the CIR
Green traffic is transported without exceeding the SLA, whilst in a colour blind
network the test simply verifies that traffic is received that at least meets the CIR.
4.7.2.4.5.1.1
CIR/EIR Test CIR Rate
This menu item defines the traffic rate for the CIR/Green traffic stream. This
value is defined as a percentage of the flow CIR.
4.7.2.4.5.1.2
CIR/EIR Test EIR Rate
This menu item defines the traffic rate for the EIR/Yellow traffic stream. This
value is defined as a percentage of the flow EIR.
4.7.2.4.5.1.3
CIR/EIR Test Time
This menu item defines the duration of the CIR/EIR test. Typically for a 24 hour
CIR test this would be set to 1 hour.
