8 SPECIAL E-BAM CONFIGURATIONS
The E-BAM can be supplied in custom configurations or with non-standard accessories in order to
meet specific monitoring needs.
8.1 Wind Sensor Options
The E-BAM can be equipped with an optional combination wind speed and direction sensor. There
are both analog and sonic type sensors available.
8.1.1 EX2-034B
The EX2-034B is a mechanical cup and vane sensor that provides wind speed and direction
measurements. It is mounted to the E-BAM tripod using the provided cross arm. See Figure 2-4.
It connects to the E-BAM WS/WD SENSOR connector using the included signal cables and analog
to digital signal converter. This converter measures the wind sensor’s analog signals and provides
an RS-485 digital output to the E-BAM with wind speed and direction values.
This type of sensor requires manual orientation when deployed. Consult the separate manual that
comes with the wind sensor for details.
8.1.2 EX2-AIO
The EX2-AIO sensor provides sonic wind measurements. It is mounted using the same cross-arm
assembly as shown for the EX2-034B in Figure 2-4. However, it has a different adapter to mate it to
the cross-arm itself.
It connects to the E-BAM through the WS/WD SENSOR connector on the bottom of the monitor.
This connection both provides power to the sensor and collects its digital output string to provide
wind speed and direction information.
This type of sensor includes an internal compass for wind direction correction and does not require
manual orientation when deployed. Consult the separate manual that comes with the wind sensor
for details.
