the screen when finished.
If difficulty is encountered during the process, the DEFAULT key can be pressed to erase all field
calibration factors from the barometric pressure sensor and to start over with factory default
calibration factors. Then try the calibration again.
5.8 Flow Audits and Calibrations
The flow calibration is performed after the ambient temperature and pressure sensors are audited
(see sections 5.6 and 5.7), because the E-BAM uses these parameters to calculate flow. In
addition,
the nozzle and vane must be clean, and a leak check must be performed (see section 5.2)
before the flow calibration
. The PM
10
inlet head must be removed and a traceable reference
standard flow audit device (BGI deltaCal
or equivalent) must be installed in its place onto the top
of the E-BAM inlet tube to measure the flow.
The accuracy of the E-BAM flow control system should be periodically verified. If the flow,
temperature or pressure sensors are not operating within desired specification, they should be
calibrated.
Minimum Suggested Interval
: Complete calibration upon commissioning. Verification required
after replacing filter tape (8 weeks).
Required Tools
: Certified Calibration Transfer Standard (CTS); (e.g. Flow Calibration Kit, Met One
Instruments Part No. BX-307)
All calibration transfer standards should be certified to the following criteria, and have a valid
certificate of traceability to NIST standards:
Transfer Standard
Acceptance Criteria
Flow Rate
± 2% of NIST Traceable Standard
Ambient Temperature
± 0.1º C Resolution
± 0.5º C Accuracy
Barometric Pressure
± 1 mmHg Resolution
± 5 mmHg Accuracy
Table 5-2 Minimum Calibration Transfer Standard Specifications
If a flow audit is desired (and not a full calibration) the same procedure detailed in this section is
followed, but no changes are made; the results are observed and recorded only. A flow audit
confirms operation of the flow system without making any alterations. This may be necessary to
validate data collected during verification of the E-BAM flow control system, the following
acceptance criteria should be maintained.
Parameter
Acceptance Criteria
Flow Rate
± 4% of transfer standard
Ambient Temperature
± 2º C of transfer standard
Barometric Pressure
± 10 mmHg of transfer standard
