9.7.2 Crosswind Assist
The Crosswind Assist function detects the influence
of crosswind (track offset) through the installed ESP
®
components and counteracts it by applying the brakes
on individual wheels with the help of the ESP
®
.
Any work on the vehicle body which brings about
changes to the projected lateral face is only allowed
to a limited extent and after having consulted the
department responsible (
Page 9). If the planned
conversion is possible, an upfitter impact study (UIS)
should be requested (
The retrofitting of high roof attachments, for exam-
ple, is one measure which alters the projected lateral
face. A change in the lateral face leads to a change in
parameters, which could influence the functioning of
the system.
Crosswind Assist cannot be deactivated.

9.7.3 COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST
The sensor of the COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST
system is positioned laterally offset and integrated in
the front bumper.

To ensure that the functioning of the system is not
affected, on no account should the following changes
be made:

Changing the position of the sensor
•
Attachment of detachable parts that can shadow
the area of or around the sensor. If necessary, the
system must be deactivated.
