11. Install spare wheel on wheel hub.
Insert wheel b o lts and tighten
them slightly.
To avoid paint damage, place
wheel flat against hub and hold it
there while installing firs t wheel
bolt. U nscrew the alignm ent stud
to install the last wheel bolt.
12. Lower car, remove jack.
13. Engage ja ck tube cover hooks on
to p and snap bottom into place.
14. Tighten the five bolts evenly,
always skipping one, until all bolts
are tight. Observe a tightening
torque of 110 Nm (80 Ib-ft).
15. C orrect tire pressure.
Important!
Retighten wheel m ounting bolts after
approx. 800 km (500 miles). Observe
a tightening torque of 110 Nm
(80 Ib-ft).
Tire Inflation Pressure
A table (see fuel fille r flap or last
page) lists the tire inflation pressures
specified fo r sum m er and w inter tires
as well as fo r the varying operating
conditions.
Important!
Tire pressure differs by approx.
0.1 bar (1.5 psi) per 10° C (18° F) of
air tem perature change. Keep this in
mind when checking tire pressure
inside a garage — especially in the
w inter.
Example:
If garage tem perature =
approx. + 2 0 ° C ( + 68° F) and,
am bient tem perature =
approx. 0° C ( + 3 2 ° F) then the
adjusted air pressure = specified air
pressure + 0 .2 bar ( + 3 psi).
Tire pressures listed fo r light loads
are minimum values offering high driv­
ing com fort. Increased inflation pres­
sures fo r heavy loads produce favora­
ble handling characteristics with ligh­
ter loads and are perfectly perm issi­
ble. The ride of the vehicle, however,
will becom e som ewhat harder.
Tire tem perature and pressure
increase with the vehicle speed. Tire
pressure should therefore only be
corrected on cold tires. C orrect tire
pressure in warm tires only if pres­
sure has dropped below the pressure
listed in the table and the respective
operating conditions are taken into
consideration.
