5 Cleaning and Service
5.1 Cleaning and disinfection
General hints
All components which are in contact with the patient, should be disinfected
according to the recommendations of "Desinfektionsmittel-Kommission im Verbund
für Angewandte Hygiene (VAH) e. V.", DGHM.
Please follow the instructions of the manufacturer of the disinfectant.
Please use only those disinfectants, which are recommended for use in the following
sections. The use of non-approved disinfectants may damage recorder surfaces or
the patient cable! Warrenty claims are excluded for these cases.
The frequent usage of disinfectants may cause a colour change of recorder surfaces.
This is does not represent a material fault or defect.
After the incubation time of the disinfectant, please remove residual disinfectant by
wiping the surfaces with a damp cloth, in order to avoid direct skin contact with
disinfectants.

During cleaning and disinfection, ensure that
no liquid
enters the openings in the
equipment.

Cables and leads may not be autoclaved for sterilization; this may compromise
the electrical insulation.
Cables and leads with damaged insulation pose an extraordinary risk for knowing
or unknowing persons who may come into contact with them.Defective leads and
cables also risk damaging the equipment to which they are connected.
Leads with
damaged insulation
may no longer be used with any electrical
equipment.

Keep plugs away from conductive objects. Never
submerge or wet
cables or
plugs. Keep cables out of strong UV- rays.
5.1.1 TELESMART recorder
Cleaning:
The equipment can be cleaned with a damp cloth, saturated with a mild household
cleaner.
Disinfection:
The equipment can be disinfected with all clinical cleaning and disinfection solu-
tions that contain less than 70% alcohol (ie concentrated Functiosept applied for 15
min). Phenol-based and peroxide compound containing scrubbing and disinfection
