As soon as he comes to rest against his working
position, he places the connector around a
suitably sized attachment point so as to be
sufficiently strong (for this, see
‘
Attachment
point
’
) and then attaches the connection
element into the other side retaining eye on the
safety belt. The adjustable connector must be
adjusted in accordance with the instructions that
apply to it. Before the user reclines backwards
into safety belt, he should recheck the connector
laid around the attachment (see above
‘
Attachment
’
) as well as the correct locking of
the connector elements. With this type of
application, the connector should, as a rule, be
clasped into the second retaining eye on the
belt.
3.2 Safety belts with a connector that has
been securely sewn on
(Type: B4 Var. 1)
The sewn connector (strap) is securely
connected with the safety belt at a retaining eye
and not adjustable. At the other end of the
adjustable connector there is a connector
element in accordance with EN 362. After
applying the safety belt, the user loops up the
connector. In order to avoid trips, e.g. on the
way to the working position, the end with the
connector element should either be worn freely
over the shoulder or clasped into a retaining
eye.
As soon as he has reached his working position,
he fastens the fastener to an attachment point
with sufficient strength (see attachment point).
Acc. to EN 358, safety belts with a fixed, non-
adjustable connecting element may only be
used as a restraint system.
3.3 Safety belts with an adjustable
connector that has been securely sewn
on
(Type: B4 Var. R)
The adjustable connector is securely connected
with the safety belt at a retaining eye. At the
other end of the adjustable connector there is a
connector element in accordance with EN 362.
The connector is shortened by sliding the belt
strap back through the friction clasp in the
direction of the retaining eye. In order to extend
the adjustable connector, the belt strap is pulled
through the friction clasp in the direction of the
connector element.
After applying the safety belt, the user loops up
the connector. In order to avoid trips, e.g. on the
way to the working position, the end with the
connector element should either be worn freely
over the shoulder or clasped into a retaining
eye.
As soon as he come to rest against his working
position, he places the connector around a
suitably sized attachment point so as to be
sufficiently strong (for this, see
‘
Attachment
point
’
) and then attaches the connection
element into the other side retaining eye on the
safety belt. Before the user reclines backwards
into safety belt, he should recheck the connector
laid around the attachment (see above
‘
Attachment
’
) as well as the correct locking of
the connector elements. With this type of
application, the connector should, as a rule, be
clasped into the second retaining eye on the
belt.
Caution:
When using the device as a restraint belt, care
must be taken that the edge cannot be reached.
In addition, when working on surfaces with
slopes of over 45°, care must be taken that the
person is held or secured (in the case of
slipping) (e.g. in the case of roof surfaces,
banks).
It is to be noted in particular that, with
untensioned cable build-up, the effectiveness of
the entire restraint system is no longer provided
under certain circumstances. Then there can be
a direct danger of falling if the fall edge is
reached.
The fasteners must always be shorter than the
distance to the fall edge. This is achieved by
correctly setting the adjustable connector (e.g.
Masi MA 4).
Important:
If pocket webs / pocket eyelets are sewn on at
the back, these are permissible only for holding
a tool pouch or a tool bag. In no case should a
fastening or similar be attached to them.
Any abuse to the side hold eyelets through
hanging or sitting in the belt inevitably leads to
damage and is therefore inadmissible.
The adjusting devices and connecting elements
are to be checked regularly during the
performance of work.
4. Cleaning and testing
After completion of work, the equipment should
be cleaned of any contamination. This increases
the service life duration of this type of PPE, as
well as your security. Clean with warm water at
30°C and fabric-sensitive detergent and then dry
in the shade. Clean belts have a longer service
life. Rub metal fittings regularly with an oily cloth
(e.g. WD 40).
5. Storage
Storage should be implemented in dry
conditions in a sealed metal suitcase or PVC
bag (aerated and protected against direct solar
radiation).
6. Verification
If there is doubt as to whether the equipment is
safe to use, it must be recalled immediately
before being used. If it has been strained,
personal protective equipment may only be
reused with the written consent of a technical
expert. Regular verification may be implemented
through an expert person only, subject to
precise observation of the directions of the
manufacturer. Personal protective (retaining)
equipment must be checked as necessary by a
technical expert, however at least once every
twelve months. The manufacturer is considered
an expert. The identification on the product must
also be checked for legibility.
Single components employed:
Webbing:

Sewing thread: Polyester (PES)
Metal fittings: steel optional zinc coated

Plastic parts: Polyamide (PA)
7. Explanation of the pictograms
It is absolutely necessary to read the
direction for use before use of this
PPE and to consider the warnings.
8. Remarks
Good maintenance and storage extend the
longevity of your personal protective equipment
and as such, ensure optimum safety.
The maximum service life of PPE depends on its
condition and for products of MAS GmbH is up
to 8 years
.
In case of a complete documentation of the
annual expert inspections and a positive
assessment by an expert, the lifetime can be
extended to 10 years.
A test log is enclosed with these directions for
use (control chart). Prior to the first application,
this inspection log is to be filled in by the user
with the necessary information. In case of resale
in another country, the vendor must make
available for the safety for the vendor the
directions for use, maintenance,
