STEP 1
Connect the smart tester
Turn the ignition ON
Initialise the diagnostic tool
Record the DTC and clear
Turn ignition OFF
Turn ignition ON
Verify if P0103 is present?
Is P0103 present?
Intermittent problem exists
Refer the intermittent problem
inspection procedure
STEP 2
Is the value >5
.25 V
?
NO
Ignition OFF
HFM sensor wiring harness
connector DISCONNECTED
Ignition ON
Check the voltage between pin
5 of the HFM sensor wiring
harness connector and battery
ground
YES
Suspect internal failure of HFM
sensor
Replace the HFM sensor with a
new one
Clear the DTC and verify
Examine the short circuit of
HFM sensor air mass signal wire
to battery
Repair/replace the wiring
harness
Clear the DTC and verify
YES
NO
