STEP 1
Connect the smart tester
Turn the ignition ON
Initialise the diagnostic tool
Record the DTC and clear
Turn ignition OFF
Turn ignition ON
Verify if P0481 is present?
Is P0481 present?
Intermittent problem exists
Refer the intermittent problem
inspection procedure

Ignition OFF
Ensure the fan high speed relay
is fixed properly in the
connector of the engine
compartment fuse box
Remove the fan high speed
relay
Check the functioning of relay by
providing 12V to terminal 85
and ground to terminal 86
Is a clicking sound
heard?
Replace the fan high speed relay
with a new one
Clear the DTC and verify
NO
YES
Is the value < 1
Ω
?
Examine the open circuit of of
fan high speed relay control wire
from EMS ECU
Ensure the holding bolts of BEC
connectors are intact
Repair/replace the wiring
harness
Clear the DTC and verify
Ignition OFF
EMS ECU wiring harness
DISCONNECTED
Remove the fan high speed
relay
Check the resistance between
pin 86 of the fan high speed
relay seating and pin 68 of the
EMS ECU wiring harness
connector
NO
YES
Suspect EMS ECU malfunction
Replace EMS ECU with a new
one.
Check and verify for any new
DTC’s
