Night Mode
Night mode (DR COMP) is a function for compressing the
dynamic range (reproduction level range) of audio signals.
It is used to review movie software late at night or at other
times when high volume levels are not desirable.
At preset scenes in movies software which has been re-
corded in the Dolby Digital (AC-3) format, this function pre-
vents sudden increases in the sound level by holding down
the peak level while maintaining the spread of the sound
field.
This night mode can only be used on the following condi-
tions;
•When the reproduction mode is set to Dolby Digital (
Dolby Digital LED lights).
•When the source has been recorded in the Dolby Digi-
tal (AC-3) format (the DIGITAL LED lights),and the night
mode can be effected only when the source is recorded
for the night mode.
Night mode
1. Press POWER button on the front panel to turn the
system on.
2. Press NIGHT button repeatedly until “DR COMP? ”
appears in the display.

3. Press ADJ+ or ADJ- button to adjust dynamic range
compressing as following:
SOUND MODE
DTS MODE
DTS employs digital discrete system in which each chan-
nel is treated as a separate entity. It is used for the DVDs
which are a new-generation AV media, and it represents
the new format which supports not only laser discs but
also the advance which will be made in AV components of
the future.
This mode is used to enjoy digital source, such as music
sources or movie software (DVD having the following mark).
1. Turn the power on and select the input source of OPTICAL
or COAXIAL.
2. When receiving DTS code, processor will switch automati-
cally into DTS mode and

indicator will turn on
and DTS indicator will flash.
