p. Close the following circuit breakers.

PCIU -

q. Set AMC ON/OFF switch to ON and close red-guarded switch (AMC POWER) on

ight engineer circuit breaker
panel No. 3, adjacent to AMC POWER circuit breaker. Auxiliary Maintenance Computer (AMC) boot process requires
approximately 4 minutes.
r. If closed, open Personal Computer Interface Unit (PCIU) display using twist knobs on each side of display while
lifting display to a comfortable viewing angle. Twist knobs may be turned so lock down mechanism is disengaged or
they may be momentarily pulled out while display is lifted.
NOTE
An Removable Memory Module (RMM) card is required for all ground engine runs or if an immediate record of
trend and failure data is desired, but may also be accomplished at a later time using the AMC Data Recovery
function described in TO 1C-5M-2-6. If RMM card is not installed, the EDS fault Fault Description (FD) and
RMM fault Fault Isolation (FI) will remain active.
s. If required, install properly formatted RMM card.
t. On PCIU, press and hold PWR button for approximately 2 seconds. Green power indication light will come on and
orange hard disk drive light will

ash intermittently indicating PCIU is booting up. PCIU startup process will require
approximately 3 minutes.
NOTE
The password for EDS access can be found in the notes section of AFTO Form 781A.
u. On PCIU, place cursor on EDS icon, then press left mouse button. Enter user password, then press left mouse button.
v. On PCIU, verify the C5M Embedded Diagnostics System window is displayed in the upper left corner.
NOTE
When the PCIU

rst connects with the AMC, the PCIU must synchronize
À
ight data with the AMC. This is
indicated by the “Initializing” or “Synchronizing with AMC” message on the PCIU status bar. During this period,
the system may be slow or unresponsive. For this reason it is recommended that the user wait until the status
changes to “System Operate” before using the PCIU.
w. On PCIU, verify that EDS Status at bottom of Embedded Diagnostics System window is AMC CONNECTED -
SYSTEM OPERATE - RMM % FULL (respectively), if RMM card was installed in Step s. If RMM card is not
installed, RMM status will display RMM NOT FOUND.
x. On PCIU, select AIRCRAFT HEALTH tab.
y. On PCIU, select 1553 STATUS tab.
z. On PCIU, select PILOT/COPILOT BUSES tab.

rm that Chan Status indicates Good for both Channel A and Channel B by verifying 1553 status of VIA 1, VIA
2, BSIU 1, BSIU 2, MFDU PC, MFDU PL, MFDU PR, BIP, MFDU CPC, MFDU CPL, MFDU CPR, and MFDU FE
(Pilot/Copilot Buses core processing components).
