On airplanes modi
¿
ed by TO 1C-5-799, IRCM GROUND TEST switch must in NORMAL and IRCM GND light
is ON to prevent accidental IRCM system activation. Failure to comply may result in injury to personnel or
damage to equipment.
NOTE
IRCM GND light will only be ON when Core Power is applied.
b. On airplanes modi
¿
ed by TO 1C-5-799, ensure IRCM GROUND TEST SWITCH is in NORMAL.
Prior to applying external power, review AFTO Form 781 series to ensure no condition exists which would
prohibit application of power. Application of power, when a fault exists, could result in injury to personnel or
damage to airplane.
c. Review AFTO Form 781 to ensure no condition exists which would prohibit application of power.
Airplane and power unit will be monitored at all times while external power is applied. Fire, damage to airplane,
or injury to personnel may result if airplane is left unattended with external electrical power applied.
d. Ensure airplane and power unit is monitored at all times while external power is applied.
e. Close TOUCH DOWN 1 and TOUCH DOWN 2 circuit breakers on
À
ight engineer circuit breaker panel No. 2,
ISOLATED DC BUS. During normal ground maintenance operations TOUCH DOWN 1 and TOUCH DOWN 2
circuit breakers should always be closed. To alert maintenance personnel not to open these circuit breakers, the circuit
breaker buttons are painted red. (See Figure 1-21.)
The aircraft battery supplies power to the Fire Suppression System (FSS) nose wheel well panel. A serviceable
battery will be installed in airplane battery compartment and connected to airplane at all times except during
battery or FSS maintenance. Failure to comply will result in total deactivation of

capabilities at nose wheel well panel.
f. Ensure the four EEC SECONDARY POWER switches (Figure 1-22, 1) located at the
À
ight engineer station are in
OFF (red guard and switch up).
g. With external power disconnected, place ACFT BATT switch (Figure 1-23, 11) to ON.
Before external power is applied to the airplane, aircraft battery must have a charge of no less than 22.5 volts. If
voltage is less than 22.5 volts, replace battery in accordance with TO 1C-5M-2-7-1, Chapter 3. Failure to comply
could result in damage to equipment or airplane.
h. Rotate VOLT SEL switch (3) to ACFT BATT. A reading of 22.5 volts or higher should be indicated on voltmeter.
i. Place APU BATTERY CHARGER switch (1) to ON.
