6.3 Sending and Receiving Short Text Messages
You can exchange short text messages (up to 80 alphanumeric characters) with other iPECS display phone
users. If you have short text messages, the message button will be flashing. If the ring/message LED is set to
MWI, the ring/message LED will flash.
To send an SMS message to another iPECS display Phone: (for UCP/eMG)
1)
Press the Transfer (PGM) button.
2)
Dial 36, the SMS send code.
Dial 1 to resend an existing message.
Dial 2 to send a new message.
3)
Enter the station range to receive the message, to send to a single station, enter the station
number twice. (Example for single station: 1231,1231, for station range: 1231~1239)
4)
Enter your message using the dial pad. Refer to
“1.10.1 Phone Entering Text” for details on
entering text.
5)
Press the HOLD(SAVE) button to send your message.
To view your received Short text messages:
1)
Press the MSG button, the LCD will display the Message Summary display.

2. MISSED CALL (000)
3. VOICE MAIL (002)
4. SMS (00)

Dial 4 to view a received SMS; the first few SMS messages are shown in brief, press navigation
key up/down to select the message. Newest Message will be listed end of the last.

Dial the Message number to view the entire SMS message.
To delete received Short text messages:
1)
Press the DELETE Softkey or dial #.
2)
Dial 1 to delete the message, 2 to cancel, or 3 to delete all received Short text messages.
3)
Softkeys are provided for replying to a message.
4)
The OK button will send a message, the right button is SMS Reply, and the left button moves up
the menu.
