The following illustration shows the status of the jumpers and TMM on the system board of your server. You
can configure, recover, enable, or disable some specific features of the system board by setting the jumpers.

Attention:
To set the jumpers, you need to remove the server cover to access the system board. Do not
open your server or attempt any repair before reading and understanding “Safety information” on page iii
and “Guidelines” on page 75.

BIOS write protect jumper
To enable the BIOS write protect function, do the following:
1. Remove all media from the drives and turn off all attached devices and the server. Then, disconnect all
power cords from electrical outlets and disconnect all cables that are connected to the server.
2. Remove the server cover. See “Removing the server cover” on page 77.
3. Lay the server on its side for easier operation.
4. Locate the BIOS write protect jumper on the system board, and then move the jumper from the default
normal position (pin 1 and pin 2) to the short-circuited position (pin 2 and pin 3). The BIOS write
protect function is enabled.
5. Reinstall the server cover and connect the power cords. See “Completing the parts replacement” on
page 178.
