Align the ServeRAID adapter so that the keys align correctly with the connector on the PCI
riser-card assembly.

Step 6.

Insert the ServeRAID adapter into the connector on the PCI riser-card assembly until it is firmly
seated.

Attention:

Incomplete insertion might cause damage to the server or the adapter.

Step 7.

Install the PCI riser-card assembly (see “Replacing the PCI riser-card assembly” on page 55).

If you have other devices to install, do so now. Otherwise, go to “Completing the installation” on page 54.

Note:

When you restart the server, you are prompted to import the existing RAID configuration to the

new ServeRAID adapter.

Installing a hot-swap power supply

Use this information to install a hot-swap power supply.

The following notes describe the type of power supply that the server supports and other information that
you must consider when you install a power supply:

• Depending on your server model, the server comes standard with one 460-watt hot-swap power supply.

For redundancy support, you must install an additional hot-swap power supply, if one is not installed in
your model.

• Make sure that the devices that you are installing are supported. For a list of supported optional devices

for the server, see http://www.lenovo.com/ serverproven/.
