ADVANCE INFORMATION LEAFLET 1/16

Insert this leaflet into AP101B-7200-15 at the end of Part 1,
Chapter 7. This AIL cancels AIL 1/15. Remove and destroy AIL 1/15
in accordance with local procedures. Record the insertion of this
leaflet, and the cancellation of AIL 1/15 by annotating the AIL Record
Card at the front of the document.

This AIL provides information about Power Flight Alarm Core
(with audio) and the associated ‘Butterfly’ display (PFLARM) for
Lancaster Mk 1 which is introduced by SM/Lancaster/021.

COLLISION WARNING SYSTEM

General

1.

Mod SM/Lancaster/021 introduces PFLARM to improve aircrew

situation awareness in order to mitigate the mid-air collision risk. The
unit determines the aircraft’s 3D position and short-term future flight
path from an internal GPS receiver. It also derives height information
from an internal barometric pressure sensor to compare to Mode 3C/
S returns from SSR. PFLARM continuously transmits its own
