a. A hydraulic reservoir located on the port side of the fuselage just
aft of front spar. The reservoir is vented to atmosphere within the
fuselage.
Note
: There is no sight glass to check the fluid quantity in flight.
b. Two EDPs. The output of each pump passes through a non-return
valve and a filter to an automatic cut-out (ACO).
c. An ACO, located by the reservoir, diverts the output from the EDPs
to return when services are not being operated. A pressure relief
valve is fitted across the ACO to relieve system pressure to return if
it exceeds 800 to 900PSI.
d. A handpump, adjacent to the reservoir, is provided for use in the
event of failure of both EDPs in flight or for test purposes on the
ground. The stroke of the pump is limited so any use of the hand
pump, although not difficult, will take a significant time. The pump was
not intended to operate the bomb doors, flaps or undercarriage.
e. An accumulator with an air charging point and pressure gauge is
by the reservoir.
f. Each of the three services are protected by a non return valve in
their supply line.

Undercarriage.
A large red lever to the right of the Pilot’s seat
controls the retraction and lowering of the main wheels. The lever has an
interference peg to prevent the inadvertent selection of the UP position.
The lever moves in the natural sense ie UP to raise the undercarriage.
It is directly connected to the undercarriage selector valve that supplies
fluid directly to the UP or DOWN lines of the undercarriage jacks.
a.
Undercarriage Indicator.
An undercarriage position indicator is
on the left-hand side of the Pilot’s front panel. Eight microswitches,
two UP locks and two DOWN locks on each leg, each pair wired in
series, give indications for undercarriage position. The indicator is
powered through an undercarriage indicator switch to the left of the
engine ignition switches. The indicator has two red lights (with two
bulbs in each light) and four green lights (two being a back up through
a changeover switch), it also has a day/night selector. Additional
