Operation

MeasureReady™ M91 FastHall™ Measurement Controller

3.3 Overview

The example commands in this chapter are shown using the Lake Shore software pro-
gram, MeasureLINK™-MCS. Most functionality is contained in the pre-defined mea-
surements and scripts in MeasureLINK™. For manual control, SCPI commands can be
sent by any software program, such as LabView, terminal emulator or a dedicated
custom program. This software permits the user to build and send SCPI commands to
the M91 FastHall™ measurement controller as well as other system components
(e.g., temperature and field controllers) that are typically needed to complete a full
measurement.)

The MeasureReady™ M91 FastHall™ measurement controller executes a complete
Hall measurement. Each of the measurement steps has an associated SCPI command,
which allows the user to implement that step in either:

Manual SCPI commands:

with manual configuration, the user specifies values for

each of the command input parameters directly in the command call.

D

Link SCPI commands:

with link configuration, the user runs the contact check com-

mand first, then the subsequent commands use the input parameters deter-
mined in the contact check directly, without having to provide them on the
command line. This permits the M91 to automatically determine the best exci-
tation and ranging parameters for the measurement conditions, and then use
these inputs for subsequent resistivity and FastHall™ commands.

A complete list of SCPI commands can be found in section 4.5.

No measurements can be started from the front panel screen; it is used only to display
high-level measurement results.
