Wheel Rake
8.5.2 Verify tie rod length
If the tire angle is not correct, verify whether the tie
rods are set at the same length.
Measure the length of each tie rod from the center
of the front clevis pin to center of rear clevis pin
(distance
A
). If the difference in tie rod lengths is
greater than 1/8" (3 mm), determine which tie rod
needs to be adjusted to achieve the correct tire
angle.
- If the front of the tires are angled too far apart,
adjust the longer tie rod to match the length of the
shorter.
- If the front of the tires are angled too close
together, adjust the shorter tie rod to match the
length of the longer.
8.5.3 Adjust tie rod length
- Detach the tie rod at the center of the rake by
removing the pin (2) and clip (1).
- Turn the clevis (3) to shorten or lengthen the tie
rod.
- Turn clockwise (tighten) to decrease the tie rod
length.
- Turn counter-clockwise (loosen) to increase tie the
rod length.
- Reinstall the pin (2) and clip (1).
