Wheel Rake
8.4
Adjusting front or rear rake
wheels
The front and rear raking wheels on each side of the
rake are designed to be locked up if necessary.
Front raking wheels can be locked up when it is
desirable to rake less hay into the windrow in
conditions where a more open, or flatter, raking
angle is preferred.
Rear raking wheels can be locked up in order to turn
two individual windrows without combining the hay.
This method of raking is used to:
- Improve drydown by turning and fluffing without
combining the hay. The two windrows are then
merged together at a later time.
-
Allow separate harvesting of large volume
windrows or, for example, when baling with a
small square baler in order to match the windrow
to the capacity of the baler.
Begin with the rake arms in working position. To
lock each rake wheel in the up position, first remove
the hairpin (A), and then the bent pin (B).
Lift each individual rake wheel arm (C) above the pin
position and reinsert the bent pin (B) into the
opposite side as shown. Secure with the hairpin (A).
Before adjusting, maintaining or repairing
the machine, perform the safety shutdown
procedure.
