13.5 Burner and Pilot System
Certain components may be removed for easier access to the control
compartment.
Refer to section
8.5, CONTROL BOARD
on page 58
for instructions.
Verify gas supply is turned on and filled. Consult with
plumber or gas supplier as necessary.

•
Vacuum all components of the burner system.
•
Check all accessible gas-carrying tubes, connections, pipes and
other components for leaks.
•
Inspect the operation of the flame safety system Pilot or Flame
rectification device. Visually check pilot light when in operation.
•
Inspect and ensure the lighting of the main burner occurs within
(4) seconds of the main gas valve opening. Check for faulty or
incorrect wiring and correct or replace as necessary. Inspect
primary air openings (burner ports) for blockage, especially near
the pilot.
•
Visually check burner flame pattern when in operation. Flames
should be steady, not lifting or floating.
•
Test and measure the flame failure response time of the flame
safety system. It must de-energize the safety shutoff in no more
than (30) seconds.
