Setting to work summary
Once all the hardware units have been installed, and all the cables have been connected, the
MF90 system can be turned on for the first time and set to work.
Prerequisites
Before you can set the MF90 system to work, the following prerequisites must be met:
• The system units have all been installed according to the instructions provided.
• All system cables are connected.
• All cable connections are made.
• Correct operating power is available.
• All peripheral devices that shall communicate with the MF90 system are available and
operational.
• All relevant personnel and tools are available.
Context
Some of these tasks may be done while the vessel is in dry dock. However, we assume that
the vessel is set afloat before you do these tasks.
Note
You must never turn on the MF90 system when the ship is in dry dock. The transducer may
be damaged if it transmits in open air. It is therefore very important that the MF90 system
remains turned off when the vessel is in dry dock, and that no one tries to use it.
Procedure
1 Do a thorough visual inspection to make sure that the MF90 system is ready for
operational use.
a Make sure that all hardware units have been installed correctly.
b Make sure that all the cables have been connected correctly.
2 Turn on the MF90 system for the first time.
3 Configure the MF90 system for operational use by inserting the relevant installation
parameters.
To allow the MF90 system to provide correct data, you must define and insert the
location of each navigation and motion sensor, as well as the location of the transducer.
Do this as accurately as possible. Additional configuration of operational parameters is
also required.
