If the deflection is out of the standard range, adjust it into the standard range according to the following pro-
cedure.
1) Open the floor.
For details, see “METHOD FOR OPENING FLOOR UNIT”.
2) Place the bar between alternator (3) and cylinder
block, and fix the alternator (3).
When fixing it, put the wooden chip between the bar
and alternator (3) to prevent the alternator (3) from be-
ing damaged.
3) Loosen the adjustment bolt (4) and mounting bolt (5).
4) Adjust the position of alternator (3) by pressing the
belt at the midpoint between the alternator pulley and
fan pulley (approximately 98 N {10 kg} ) so that the
belt is deflected by approximately 7 to 10 mm.
5) After the position of alternator (3) is fixed, tighten the adjustment bolt (4), mounting bolt (5) to fix the
alternator (3).
6) Check each pulley for damage, wear of the V-groove, and the wear of the V-belt. In particular, be sure
to check that the V-belt is not touching the bottom of the V-groove.
Replace the belt with a new one if the belt is stretched and has no allowance for adjustment, or has
slipping sound or squeak because of cuts or cracks.
When replacing the belt to a new one, ask your Komatsu distributor to perform the work.
7) After the adjustment is completed, close the floor.
For details, see “METHOD FOR CLOSING FLOOR UNIT”.
3.
Close the engine rear cover (1).
EVERY 1000 HOURS MAINTENANCE
Maintenance for every 100, 250 and 500 hours should be performed at the same time.
METHOD FOR REPLACING HYDRAULIC OIL FILTER ELEMENT
k
k
WARNING
• Immediately after the engine is stopped, its parts and oil are still very hot and may cause burn in-
jury. Accordingly, wait until they have cooled down before starting the work.
• When removing the oil filler cap, the oil may spout out. Turn it slowly to release the internal pres-
sure, then remove it.
• When removing filter cover, keep pressing the filter cover by your hand and remove it.
Otherwise, the filter cover may jump out and it may cause injury if the mounting bolt of the filter
cover is removed carelessly since the filter cover presses the spring.
NOTICE
If the machine is equipped with a hydraulic breaker, the hydraulic oil deteriorates faster than in the nor-
mal bucket digging operation. Accordingly, perform maintenance referring to “MAINTENANCE INTER-
VAL FOR HYDRAULIC BREAKER”.
