3.Changing the teeth
Do not proceed with tooth removal until engine is cool. Do not change teeth
until the engine has been disabled. Disable engine by removing key from
switch and then removing spark plug wires and battery cable. Be sure to
wear personal protective equipment.
i. Clean all dirt from cutter wheel assembly. Refrain from pounding on the tips of the teeth.
The tips are made put of carbide, which will chip if struck.
ii. To prevent cutter wheel from turning, place a pin that is 5/8 in diameter in holding pin hole
(see Figure 12)
iii. Loosen packet bolts with allen wrench, socket, and breaker bar.

cutter wheel shaft, bearings, and cutter wheel.
v. Sharpen (see instructions that follow) or replace stump teeth as needed. Replacement teeth may be
obtained from your local dealers.
vi. Reassemble cutter wheel assembly. Use tooth gauge to position teeth such that they follow the cutter
teeth pattern (see Figures 13 and 14). Make sure that all cutting edges of teeth are the same distance
from the cutter wheel.
All teeth must be on wheel to keep it balanced. The same style packets
must be used to keep wheel balanced.
vii. Use anti-seize compound on pocket bolt threads. Torque packet bolts to 110-ft. Lbs.
