Description of the standard functions
The iVent 8A ventilation controller offers all basic functions for the control of 24 V DC drives without the use of the
optional PC Service Port Software for advanced options. The following function description relates to the connections on
pages 10 to 12 without configuration and activation of the special functions via the Service Port Software.
Daily ventilation via vent switch
(see page 10, item 3 Vent switch connection)
Open window
Briefly press the OPEN button on the vent switch: the window will open fully. The opening process can be interrupted
by briefly tapping both buttons (OPEN and CLOSED) = STOP, or by pressing the STOP button, depending on the vent
switch in use.
Close window
Briefly press the CLOSED button on the vent switch: the window will close fully. The closing process can be interrupted
by briefly tapping both buttons (OPEN and CLOSED) = STOP, or by pressing the STOP button, depending on the vent
switch in use.
Closing if a wind and rain detector or timer switch is connected
(see page 11, item 4 Connecting a wind and rain detector and/or timer switch)
If a wind and rain detector or a rain sensor is connected, the windows close automatically at the onset of wind, rain and/
or snow. The "Ventilation OPEN" indicator on the vent switch blinks (depending on the vent switch type in use) and
manual ventilation is blocked during a wind and rain signal. The connection can also be used to switch on contact with a
timer switch. During the period set neither manual nor automatic ventilation is possible.

The manual/automatic switch enables a switch to automatic ventilation via temperature or other indoor air sensors.
Manual setting
The connected vent switches and wind and rain sensors are active. Automatic ventilation function via indoor air sensors
is switched off.
Automatic setting
The connected indoor air sensors and wind and rain sensors are active. The connected vent switches are switched off.
When this function is operative, the windows are opened and closed only by the indoor air sensors.
