There are actually four types of averaging processes
within an N9340B. All, except VBW filtering, are affected
by this setting. They are listed as follows:
• Trace averaging
Averages signal amplitudes on a trace-to-trace basis.

• Average detector
Averages signal amplitudes during the time or frequency
interval and represents the result as a single
measurement point.
• Noise marker
Averages signal amplitudes across measurement points
to reduce variations for noisy signals.
• VBW filtering
Performs a form of averaging of video signal.
