To remove system power:
You must shut down the software and remove all power from the computer and the system (see
(on page 3-5)).
Before proceeding, you must make sure the power indicator on the front door is not
illuminated. See the following figure for an example of what the indicator looks like when
illuminated.
Figure 26: Indicator showing system power is still on
1.
Place the breakers for the power distribution units (PDUs) in the OFF position. The PDUs are at
the bottom of the system cabinet, with one visible from the front of the cabinet and one visible
from the back of the cabinet. See the figure in
Power distribution unit connections and power
(on page 4-9) for a simplified drawing of the PDUs.
2.
If you are working in the system cabinet, disconnect the system cabinet line cord from the AC line
power receptacles.
3.
Verify that all power has been removed and discharged from the system cabinet by switching the
main power switch (on the front door of the cabinet) to the ON position and verify that the green
light does not illuminate. If the light does not come on, the power is off. Turn the main power
switch back to the OFF position.
4.
With the PDU breakers in the OFF position, lockout and tagout the system source power
connections by locking a padlock through each of the hasps that surround the PDU breakers.
