WARNING:
Inspect all bipolar instruments
prior to and after each procedure. Check to
see that the insulation is intact. There should
be no breakage or separation of the insulation
where it joins the metal. DO NOT use instru-
ments with visible signs of damage.
WARNING:
Any damage to the insulation
of the instrument, such as dents, scratches,
burns, cracking or splitting, may allow
electrical current to leak and cause electrical
shocks or burns to the patient and/or
physician. Do NOT use instruments with
visible signs of damage.
WARNING:
Check the bipolar cord for
cuts, crimps, burns or any visible damage
to the insulation or connections.
DO NOT
USE CORDS WITH VISIBLE DAMAGE!
KARL STORZ recommends replacing bipolar
cables every 3 months if used for more than
2-3 procedures weekly.
WARNING:
To prevent any electrosurgical
problems during use, please make sure that
all electrical contacts (on the instruments
and cords) are thoroughly dried prior to
being connected to the generator.
WARNING:
Verify all connections maintain
a uniform secure fit.
WARNING:
Use the lowest possible current
setting at which adequate cutting and coag-
ulation can be achieved. Please consult the
instructions for use for your electrosurgical
generator (ESU) to determine the proper
setting.
WARNING:
Gas emboli and cardiac arrest
have been reported during electrosurgical
procedures performed in conjunction with gas
insufflation. Careful monitoring of gas volume
and patient pressure should be performed
throughout electrosurgical procedures in
order to minimize any such risk. KARL STORZ
recommends that gas insufflation NOT be
used during operative hysteroscopic proce-
dures.
