Cleaning and Sterilization
Instructions (Continued)
3. Manual cleaning is recommended.
Remove any residual blood, protein
material and contaminants from the
instruments with brushes, sponges, soft
cloths or a cotton cloth applicator. KARL
STORZ recommends ultrasonic clean in
to remove tissue debris from the difficult
to clean areas of the instruments, such
as jaws, hinges and lumens. While
immersed, clean the inside of lumens
with the appropriate size soft brush.
4. While immersed, clean the inside of
lumens with the appropriate size soft
brush.
5. Thoroughly rinse all instruments with
distilled water at least three times, for a
minimum of one minute for each rinse.
The rinse water should be discarded at
the end of each rinse, as it will be con-
taminated with the cleaning solution.
Thorough rinsing of the instruments is
necessary for removing any debris or
detergent which could interfere with
sterilization. Cleaning pistols (KSEA part
number 27660) are useful for rinsing the
bipolar instruments.
6. Dry the instruments with a lint-free soft
cloth or compressed air (<5 psi). Cleaning
pistols (KSEA part number 27660) are
useful for drying the instruments with
compressed air.
