Bipolar Suction Coagulators
Indication
• To coagulate tissue and evacuate smoke
from the surgical site during laparo-
scopic and endoscopic electrosurgical
procedures.
Inspection
• The shaft of the instruments should be
straight.
• The insulation should be intact. There
should be no dents, scratches, burn
marks, cracking or splitting of the
insulation.
• The trumpet valve should be easily
moveable.
• The metal portion of the distal tip should
be smooth and free from rough edges.
Cleaning
• Follow the general instructions for cleaning
indicated in the Cleaning Section of this
manual.
• Lubricate all moving parts, such as
trumpet valves, as indicated in the
Cleaning Section of this manual.
Sterilization
WARNING: High-level disinfection is NOT
recommended for “critical” instruments to
be used for laparoscopic, hysteroscopic or
gynecology procedures.
• All suction coagulators may be ethylene
oxide or steam sterilized. Please consult
the Sterilization Section of this manual
for complete instructions for validated
sterilization procedures.
