flash module 

The KARL STORZ-SCB

®

flash module is a universal interface which permits communication between

KARL STORZ endoscopic devices for remote indication and control purposes.

The KARL STORZ-SCB

®

flash module is designed as an option for existing KARL STORZ devices and

those manufactured in the future. As its intended use is in the medical field, it is designed in accordance
with the requirements of the IEC 60601 standard. The flash module allows a device to be integrated into
the KARL STORZ Communication Bus (KARL STORZ-SCB

®

) after customization of the module software.

The flash module comprises the following resources:

– 128 kB program memory
– 128 kB data memory
– Microcontroller 80C32
– 22.1184 MHz oscillator frequency
– Control trigger / reset during power up
– Independent CAN controller
– Optically decoupled CAN transceiver
– Automatic bus termination
– RS232 interface with hardware handshake
– 1 kB serial EPROM
