FLAP – (Flap System)
FM0-FM2 (Flap System)
A-28
A-29
The FLAP values represent how far the flaps deflect when
in the
NORM
,
Mid
, and
Land
positions. The
NORM
position represents normal flying where the flaps are fully
retracted. The
Mid
position is typically used for short
field takeoffs and the
Land
position is typically used for
landing. Refer to the aircraft manufacturer’s specifications
for recommended flap deflections.
1. Put the Flap switch in its uppermost (Normal) position
(no flaps deployed). Scroll to the
NORM
parameter
next to
FLAP
on the display. It should be at U100%. If
it is not, select it with the
Selector
and set it to 100%
or the value that brings the flaps up to their normal
flying position (no flaps deployed) with the Flap switch
in the uppermost or Normal position.
2. Put the Flap switch in Mid position. Scroll to the
Mid
parameter next to
FLAP
on the display and select
it. Dial in a Down percentage to deflect the flaps
downward the desired amount. The example above
shows a value of 25%, but you should follow the
aircraft manufacturer’s specifications to set this value to
achieve the recommended partial flap deflection.
3. Put the Flap switch in the lowermost or Land
position. Scroll to the
Land
parameter next to
FLAP
on the display and select it. Dial in a Down
percentage to deflect the flaps downward the amount
required for landing. The illustration below shows
a value of 80%, but you should use the aircraft
manufacturer’s specifications to set this value to
achieve the recommended deflection.
If Flight Modes have been activated in the
Devic. SEL
function of the SYSTEM Menu then FM0, FM1 and FM2
appear along the right side of the Flap System display to
represent the 3 Flight Modes. You can assign each of the
Flight modes one of the Flap Values (
NORM
,
Mid
, or
Land
), so when that Flight Mode is selected during flight,
the Flaps deploy to that position.
SW
is also an option.
When you select
SW
or a Flight Mode, the Flap switch
controls flap operation in that Flight Mode.
If Flight Modes have not been activated, skip this portion
of the Flap System.
1. For each Flight Mode, highlight and select
FM0-FM2
and select either a flap position (
NORM
,
Mid
,
Land
)
that the flaps assume when in that Flight Mode, or
select
SW
if the Flap switch controls the flaps when in
that Flight Mode.
The example above shows Flight Mode 0 (FM0) set to
SW,
meaning the Flap switch controls flaps when in this
Flight Mode. With FM1 set to
Mid
, the flaps deflect to the
Mid position when Flight Mode 1 is selected. With FM2
set to
Land
, the flaps deploy to the
Land
position when
Flight Mode 2 is selected.
