ENGINE OPERATION
The battery disconnect switch must be ON
(see Section 4.10
The emergency stop switch at the ground
control station and platform control box must be ON
(turned
clockwise)
to start the engine.
Diesel Starting Procedure
1. With power on, set the platform/ground control
select switch to the platform control box (counter-
clockwise) position, then press and hold the diesel
engine START/STOP button (

) on the platform
control box until engine starts.
NOTE:
Holding the diesel engine START/STOP button in will
allow the glow plugs to come to an appropriate tem-
perature for starting. When they are at temperature,
the engine will start.
NOTE:
If engine fails to start promptly, do not crank for an
extended time. Should engine fail to start again, allow
starter to cool off for 2-3 minutes. If engine fails after
several attempts, refer to manufacturers engine main-
tenance manual.
NOTE:
Allow engine to warm-up for a few minutes at low
speed before applying any load.
NOTE:
At low temperatures start the motor and let it run for a
few minutes, so that the hydraulic oil circulates and
reaches at least 50°F (10°C) before operating the plat-
form.
Diesel Shutdown Procedure
1. Remove all load and allow engine to operate at
low speed for 3-5 minutes; this allows further
reduction of internal engine temperature.
2. Turn off the diesel engine by pressing the diesel
engine START/STOP button on the platform con-
trol box.
3. The shutdown procedure takes about 1 minute,
wait for complete shut-off (display off).
4. Push EMERGENCY STOP switches at the platform
and ground in, to the off position.
5. Turn engine key and main power key to off.
