Master Cylinder and Servo Unit

Dismantling and Assembly
Note 1
: The servo unit (not shown) is a non serviceable part.
A faulty servo unit must be replaced with a new one.
Note 2
: Seal kits are no longer available for the master
cylinders, the only servicing permitted is a major repair kit
which comprises of a full piston assembly. A faulty master
cylinder and piston assembly must be replaced with new
ones.
Dismantling

Remove circlip

and washer

Shake the cylinder body, or use compressed air, to
eject piston assembly

. Take care not to damage the
piston assembly or the bore of the cylinder body.

Examine the working surfaces of piston and cylinder. If
these are not in perfect condition the master cylinder
assembly must be renewed. The piston assembly

cannot be dismantled. If it is damaged (including seal
5
),
the complete piston/seal assembly must be renewed,
see Note 2:

WARNING
Use of incorrect fluid will cause serious damage to the
seals which could in turn cause brake failure.
BRAK 1-1

Clean and lubricate all components, including new
seals, with JCB Special Hydraulic Fluid. DO NOT USE
CONVENTIONAL BRAKE FLUID OR SERIOUS
DAMAGE WILL BE CAUSED.

Take care not to damage the machined faces of piston
assembly

when assembling.
