5 System Configuration

Initial Configuration
During an initial configuration, you will set up the IP address, netmask, and gateway for the
FireStorm ONE. Additionally, during this process, you will create a user account that will be used
to log into the Control Center.
Note:
The FireStorm ONE does not assign privilege levels to any accounts; therefore, all accounts
have the same access rights.
Default Network Settings
Upon the initial boot-up of the system, it will use the default network settings defined in
Table 5-1
on page 35
.
System Configuration
You can perform a system configuration using one of two methods:
• Telnet – Use telnet if connecting to the BPS Management Ethernet port.
• Text Console – Use a text console if connecting to the BPS Management serial port.
Telnet
To configure the FireStorm ONE through telnet, the appliance must be connected to your network
(i.e., hub or router) through the BPS Management Ethernet port.
To configure they system via telnet:
1. Open a telnet client or telnet capable CLI application (e.g., PuTTy, AlphaCom).
2. Telnet to the following address: 10.10.10.10.
3. Specify your terminal emulation preference at the prompt (ANSI or xterm).
4. Press
Enter .
