9.4 Installing/removing an add-on board

The PCI expansion slot is accessible by removing the back cover of the chassis.

Caution
Do not insert or remove cards from the expansion bus connector if the
Panel PC is switched on.

Be sure that the add-on board inside the Panel PC does not obstruct the airflow or
rise the temperature inside the Panel PC over the maximum allowed (see
“Climatic conditions” paragraph).

To install an add-on board:

•

Switch power off and detach power cord.

•

Remove the board from its antistatic packaging and place it on a grounded,

static free surface. Set any board jumpers as described in the instructions for
the board.

•

Loosen the PCI slot locking screw and shift the board retainer.

•

Press the board into the PCI expansion slot.

•

Shift and hook the board retainer over the PCI board bracket. Tighten the PCI

slot locking screw.

•

Connect any board cables (if required).

•

Close the cover.

To remove an add-on board:

•

Switch power off and detach power cord.

•

Remove any cable associate with the board.

•

Loosen the PCI slot locking screw and shift the board retainer.

•

Remove and store the add-on board in an antistatic wrapper.

•

Install a slot cover over the open slot.

•

Shift and hook the board retainer over the slot cover. Tighten the PCI slot

locking screw.

•

Close the cover.
