Master Mode
In Master Mode, the unit simply transfers any data received from the wireless transceiver
to Port B, and transmits any data received on Port B over the wireless transceiver. Master
mode is useful when operating the wireless transceiver in Point-to-Point Master mode. A
typical setup for master mode would be to run Intuicom Nav-Link server software on a
PC with a serial connection to Port B of a Navigator IIm unit operating in Master mode.
Master mode can also be useful when a simple serial port to serial port connection
between two units is desired. In this example, both units would be configured in Master
mode, and one unit’s wireless operation mode would be Master, while the other unit’s
wireless operation mode would be Slave.
While operating in Master mode, Port A in internally configured to be connected to the
embedded wireless transceiver’s diagnostic port allowing the user to run Intuicom
CommPro Diagnostics software and perform real-time network diagnostics. To run real-
time diagnostics, the embedded wireless transceiver must be operating as a Point-to-
Multipoint Master, with its Diagnostics (

) configuration parameter set to 1.
Direct Mode
Direct mode allows a pair of wirelessly linked units to be operated as a serial mux, where
data from Ports A and B on one unit is sent and sampled out Ports A and B respectively
on the other unit.
Figure 2-17: Direct Mode Operation
In Direct mode, one unit’s embedded wireless transceiver will be operated as a Point-to-
Multipoint Master and the other unit’s embedded wireless transceiver will be operated as
a Point-to-Multipoint Slave.
