10. Configuration Using a Telnet Client
10.1. Connecting
Platform Prerequisites
Any Telnet client supporting NVT can be used to connect to the
Intermate1xx. This includes common platforms like Windows,
UNIX and AS/400.
NVT is a minimum requirement for the client. The Intermate1xx
defaults to NVT when connected with VT52 or VT100/ANSI.
Setting Up Telnet Terminal Preferences
We recommend enabling "Local Echo" on the client in order to
display the entries. The "Buffer size" should also be checked,
as some values otherwise can disappear from the screen. A
value of 50 or more is recommended.
Logging On
A line-based Telnet client connects like this.
c:\telnet 192.168.4.170
(Windows example)
===>telnet ’192.168.4.170’
(AS/400 example)
When a Telnet session is started, the Intermate1xx presents
itself with the log-on screen.
Type the user name:
admin
followed by <CR/Enter>.
Type the password followed by <CR/Enter>. The default pass-
word is
admin
. (You can change this from the menu, “Pass-
word”. The password is case-sensitive).
Once you are logged in, the “Main Menu” appears.
You will be able to set everything except IP-address, Host-
name and license keys—but, as mentioned in the introduction
to this guide, it is clumsy to use.
