OPERATOR KEYS
Some operator keys are dual function keys. When in normal operating mode,
the keys perform the functions of the labels at the top of the keys. When in
menu mode, the keys perform the functions of the labels at the bottom of the
keys.
SEL key - Toggles the printer online and offline.
MODE key - Press this key to enter the menu mode for printer setup.

advances paper one line at the current lpi setting. When in menu mode,

(cpi) selections as indicated. Proportional spacing is not available in HSD.
Self-test
Rolling ASCII - While holding the TOF/QUIET key down, turn on power to
start the test. This test prints a header with the printer model, firmware revision,
firmware part number, and emulation. And then it prints a barber pole pattern.
Pressing MODE stops the test.
Print mode - While holding the LINE FEED/GROUP key down, turn on power
to start the test. This test prints the same header as the rolling ASCII test, and
follows with print samples of available fonts.
Hex dump - Hex dump is a diagnostic test used to troubleshoot data problems.
Enter hex dump by holding the SEL key or, in later revisions, the SEL and
FORM FEED keys while powering on the printer. The printer will print any
incoming data in a hexadecimal format on the left while printing its ASCII
equivalent on the right. Any control characters will be printed on the right as a
period.
NOTE: The self-test may be used to determine the resident emulations of
the printer being repaired. There are two distinct types of ML-320 printer.
One contains a ROM which has only one emulation, "MICROLINE". This
model will print "Okidata 320 ML" at the beginning of the self-test. The
other model contains a ROM which has two selectable emulations," IBM
Proprinter" and "Epson FX". This model will print "Okidata 320 E/I" at the
beginning of the self-test.
Configuration
To enter configuration mode, be sure the printer is offline, and then press the
MODE key. If the control panel has been configured for limited operation, you
must hold the MODE key while powering on to enter the configuration mode.
Press PRINT to print a complete list of the current configuration. The menu is
divided into "Groups" which contain "Items". Each item has a number of
possible "Settings". Press the GROUP key until the desired group name is
printed. Then press the ITEM key until the desired item is printed. Press the
SET key until the desired setting for that item is printed. Continue configuration
by pressing the ITEM key to change other items within that group or press
GROUP to move to another group. When all setting changes are complete,
press MODE to save the changes.
