Appendix B: Accuracy Verification Protocol
Use a standalone scale or graduated cylinder to perform the steps.
With Standalone Scale:
1.
Use new Tubing Set.
2.
Ensure Tubing Set is fully primed and properly calibrated.
3.
Identify the specific gravity of the fluid being tested.
4.
Use an empty container with at least 150 mL
capacity.
5.
Enter 100 mL and press
“
Next
”.
6.
Without connecting the tubing set to the bag, place the empty container on scale.
7.
Tare scale with empty container.
8.
Connect the empty container to the tubing set.
9.
Press
“
Start
”
to initiate transfer.
10.
Disconnect container from Tubing Set.
11.
Place on scale.
12.
Assess accuracy of the unit.
With Graduated Cylinder:
1.
Use new Tubing Set.
2.
Ensure Tubing Set is fully primed and properly calibrated.
3.
Use an empty container with at least 150 mL
capacity.
4.
Enter 100 mL and press
“
Next
”.
5.
Place the distal end of the tubing set inside the graduated cylinder so that fluid will discharge
into the cylinder.
6.
Press
“
Start
”
to initiate transfer.
7.
Remove Tubing Set.
8.
Identify the volume transferred.
9.
Assess accuracy of the unit.
Note:
For transfers that do not meet the accuracy criteria published in the manual, please repeat the
accuracy assessment two additional times. If issue persists, please contact ICU Medical.
