Power off the chassis by flipping all ac power switches to the off position "
O
"
(the LEDs inside the clear plastic ac power switches should turn off).
3.
Remove the power cords from the power supplies and the power outlets.
4.
Label the cables connected to all blades, if not already labeled, and record the
connections in the Table 19 on page 129, making extra copies as needed.
5.
Disconnect the cables from the SFP+ transceivers in the application and port
blades and set them aside. If you have mSFP transceivers in FC8-64 port
blades, or QSFP transceivers in FC16-64 port blades, remove the transceivers
and cables together and set them aside. The SFP+ transceivers can be left in the
port blades or removed.
Note:
Follow the instructions in “Removing and installing transceivers” on
page 108 for more details.
6.
Disconnect all cables from the control processor and core switch blades.
7.
Disconnect any ICL or QSFP cables (see “Removing and replacing inter-chassis
link (QSFP) cables” on page 113).
Removing components from the chassis
Attention:
Before removing any components, see “Safety notices and labels” on
page xiii, and “Rack safety” on page xx to ensure that any component removals
and installations do not affect the stability of the cabinet.
Attention:
Follow ESD precautions (see “ESD precautions” on page xix).
You must remove the field replaceable units (FRUs) from the SAN768B-2 chassis in
the order listed below. See the instructions in Chapter 5, “Removing and installing
components,” on page 81 for component-specific removal instructions.
1.
Remove the cable management comb as described in “Removing and installing
a cable management comb” on page 82.
2.
Remove the port blades or filler panels as described in “Removing and
installing port, application, and encryption blades” on page 84 and “Removing
and installing blade filler panels” on page 87.
3.
Remove the core switch blades (CR16-8) as described in “Removing and
installing a core switch blade (CR16-8)” on page 98
4.
Remove the control processor blades (CP8) as described in “Removing and
installing a CP8 control processor blade” on page 88.
5.
Remove the power supply units or filler panels as described in “Removing and
installing a power supply” on page 101.
6.
Remove the blower assembly as described in “Removing and installing a
blower assembly” on page 103.
7.
Remove the WWN bezel and card as described in “Removing and installing a
WWN bezel and WWN card” on page 104.
Removing and replacing the chassis in the cabinet
Although the empty chassis is lighter than a fully populated chassis, a lifting
device is still required to move it. See“Removing a SAN768B-2 from the cabinet”
on page 32
