Console Prompt

It is also recommended that you customize the prompt used by each configuration console. This makes
it easier to recognize the workgroup switch to which you are connected when you log on via a remote
switch.

The default prompt is:

Suggestion: To make it easier to recognize an ATM Workgroup Switch by its command prompt, set the
prompt to the name of the ATM Workgroup Switch used in the SET DEVICE NAME command. See the
IBM 8285/8260: ATM Command Reference Guide for more information.

To customize the prompt of an ATM Workgroup Switch, use the SET TERMINAL PROMPT command.

Console Timeout

The TERMINAL TIMEOUT parameter is a safety precaution that lets you specify how long you can
remain logged on to the configuration console without entering any data from the keyboard. This
prevents unauthorized users from accessing the workgroup switch if you forget to log off the system. If
no keystroke is entered for the time period specified by SET TERMINAL TIMEOUT, the system
automatically logs you off.

The default value for SET TERMINAL TIMEOUT is

. This means that no timeout period is set and that

you cannot be automatically logged off from the system.

To specify a timeout value (in minutes), use the SET TERMINAL TIMEOUT command.
