Using Abbreviations for A ttribute Names and V alues
Y ou can manage the job o w through HPDPS to k eep y our prin ting system
running with optimal p erformance. See Chapter 11, \Managing Jobs and
Supp orting Users" for further information.
Understanding Job and Document Defaulting
Users can sp ecify v alues for job and do cumen t attributes when they submit
jobs. Y ou can use initial-v alue-job and initial-v alue-do cumen t ob jects to assign
v alues to attributes. The HPDPS sp o oler assigns v alues to certain job and
do cumen t attributes for attributes y ou or y our users do not sp ecify .
The v alues for job and do cumen t attributes are determined as follows, b y order
of precedence:
1. By the user with the pdpr command and the -x ag to sp ecify individual
attributes and v alues.
2. By the user with the pdpr command and the initial-value-job job
attribute or the initial-value-document do cumen t attribute. Y ou m ust
create the initial-v alue-job and initial-v alue-do cumen t ob jects for y our users.
3. By y ou when y ou create an initial-v alue-job or initial-v alue-do cumen t
ob ject with the pdcreate command and asso ciate the ob jects with
HPDPS logical prin ters. Y ou use the printer-initial-value-job and
printer-initial-value-document logical prin ter attributes to make the
asso ciations.
