COMPAQ CONFIDENTIAL - NEED TO KNOW REQUIRED

Disabling a Serial Port or Parallel Port

To disable either of the serial ports or the parallel port:

1. Turn on the workstation.

2. When the cursor appears in the upper-right corner of the screen,

press F10.

NOTE

: The cursor displays in the upper-right corner of the screen for

approximately two seconds. If you do not press

F10

during this time, you must

turn the workstation off, then on again to access the utility.

3. Press Enter to bypass the welcome screens and display the main menu.

4. From the main menu, select Computer Setup, and press Enter. The

workstation prompts you to reboot. Press Enter and the workstation will
restart into Computer Setup.

5. From the Computer Setup main menu, select Communications under

Built In Devices.

Disabling a Serial Port

a. Click on the down arrow of Available Serial Ports.

b. Under Settings, select Disable for Serial Port 1 or Serial Port 2,

whichever you want to disable.

Disabling the Parallel Port

a. Under Settings, click the down arrow to locate Parallel Port.

b. Select

Disable.

6. Save the configuration and exit the utility.

7. Reboot the workstation.
